Two year quest for 400 silver achieved

Have been very fortunate since getting back into the hobby last year to have a lot of places to hunt. I especially enjoy hunting the areas I used to hunt with my Dad 40+ years ago. I marveled at his log books on the 2 year period where he found over 500 silver. I figured finds like that were no longer possible. In 2012 I was blessed to break 100 silver for the year (111 total). I believe my goal for 2013 was 135. Well with the luck of finding a virgin site where there was plenty of silver I hit that quickly. With that spot in mind I adjusted to a goal of 200 silver. When I reached that goal I started thinking about my Dad's 2 year period of 500+ and was going to make an effort to hit 400. Well today at an old school I used to live by and my Dad and I hunted regularly, I was able to not only reach 400 but get big silver to boot. Needing 1 more coin for the 400 I got a great 12-46/47 signal and was convinced it was likely a clad quarter or silver dime and my goal reached. I dug a big plug and was pleased to see the coin still pin pointed in the hole. I managed to lose the signal completely and filled the hole with the plug and figured I's start over. Well first pass and the coin was right on the surface, a nice Washington quarter and my first from the 60's this year. Finished the hunt with two more silver in a Rosie and what I thought was my first dated SL Quarter. It has a solid s mint mark but only the 9 is barely visible in the 2nd number. Oh well still a beauty of a coin. New quest is 300 silver for the current year. Wisconsin Digger

:wow: now that's a goal..... :congrats: Very impressive list of coins and I hope you reach your new goal. Your war nickel total is amazing.

Amazing goals and results! The stories of hunting with your old man years ago must be priceless, congrats!

A big round of applause to you :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
I'm still waiting for my first SLQ.
Your totals are outta sight!

Congrats on a hard to do feat |) That much silver must put a small dent in your floor  Plus the extras like Indians, V's and wheats ain't too shabby either :clapping:

Awesome! thumbsup01

From the list of your digs it looks like we hunt similar spots. A lot of places that date from the 40's-60's with some older spots mixed in. Does that sound about right? :dontknow:

I was able to hit 219 silver last year, but only because in December I got to hit some good, virgin, private property that produced around 80 silver coins.

I'm at 125 this year, so you've got me spanked :hysterical:

But anyhow, It's all about the fun. I'm just a numbers guy that likes to talk stats too.

42 War nickels is unheard of :shocked04: I'm at a dozen this year and I thought that was a lot. rofl

But you're right, the e-trac does a great job on the war nickels. That's what I swing too. :)

Keep on hunting!
