I was wondering if anybody else has sent off a dug coin to be 3rd party graded and what is the highest grade you got???

My two best are the following:

1838 small stars Seated dime - - graded at XF details - Improperly cleaned

1865 Two Cent - - graded at AU details - environmental damage

I have not sent any of my coins in to be officially graded. But I have a few that I have dug that (in my opinion) have XF details and maybe even AU details. I have also improperly cleaned some of my coins too...oh well.

As long as you use the proper grit sand paper, you should be fine! :thumbsup01:

Oh that's the secret.... sandpaper! Man this whole time I have been used an angle grinder with one of those carbon cut off wheels...I am such an IDIOT!

I had a seated dime that I found years ago that got a grade of XF , and I believe this would grade at AU if I sent it in .

Best way to clean copper coins is jewelry cleaner. Just leave it in there over night and EVERYTHING will be gone!!!
