First target of the day was silver #50 for the year happydance02, one of the rosies. Gridding patiently, waiting for them to start flying out of the ground (as this is a new site to me which seemed promising as it surrendered two on a quick test drive last week), netted nothing but clad and some stray wheaties for quite a while, 'til the very end of the hunt, where I got three fairly quickly in succession :happydance01: before calling it a day.

Looks like the site has been hit alot harder than I initially thought, as I got no deep quarters. That is one of the ways I tell.

Thanks for looking and HH everyone.

You aren't wasting any time brother. :peace: Can't wait to see how your year unfolds. :->
I use the quarter theory too. Makes sense to me.
Congrats on the four spot. :clapping:

#50 already! It's going to be fun watching the posts of all your finds again this year, I predict you will shatter the 516 mark from last year!

Holy cow Randy! Your just suckin' em out of the ground like a mad man! :shocked04:
I haven't come across a place with any deep quarters signals :envious: to judge by, so I wouldn't know about that. :dontknow: lol

Awesome!
lol

Just curious.....

How deep were these dimes?

What depth would you consider a deep quarter to be at?

Dimes were in the 6 inch ballpark. Deep is relative, depending on the trash and mineralization of a site, but 6 inches is about what I call deep around here. If I'm not seeing quarters at 6 inches, but am seeing dimes, (and in fact not a single quarter at 6 inches over the hunt), that tells me the site has been hunted fairly hard.

Deep quarters, even clad from the 60s and early 70s, are your friend. They tell you possible honey hole. That tells you not hunted hard in the early 80s, and that's what you want.
