Nothing exciting....but I did get out for a hunt !

Hunts have been few and far between last 6 months. But I had Sunday morning to myself and was determined to get out in the woods. The plan was to hit an old mill site. It's been pounded over the years but it is very trashy. I figured with some hard work and patience I could sniff out a goodie or two. Got up early, drove to the spot, parked the car, hiked up the trail only to find that the small stream I had crossed with ease back in the spring was now a raging torrent. I hiked up and down stream as far as I could but could not find a place to get across. :girlcry: Since I only had a few hours I didn't even have a "Plan B" in mind.

I hit a nearby nearby spot that had some over grown former pastures and stock pens but no cellar holes. Found some lead, harmonica reed, a 1930's vintage container of Iodex Ointment, rusty sickle blade tip and a stock bell. Found the collar buckle right next to the bell.

A bit cold but the sun managed to poke through a few times. Saw a coyote slinking off through the scrub oak. It was good to get out!

Well I guess its a good thing that you didn't attempt to cross the stream, being wet and cold really isn't the best of situations. Your bell is really neat, I don't think that they appear that often.

:congrats:on getting out

I'm glad you were able to get out for a hunt. You got some cool finds there, especially the bell.

I've never hunted in the woods. It definitely looks challenging.

I hate to be alone in the woods and hear the coyotes yippin :shocked03:
I bet you thought that buckle was silver in the hole. Good lookin bell Jeff!

I 'd say you did alright in my book Jeff , the bell looks to be on the "good" size . nice :thumbsup02:

Drew its worse when you hear a few of them "giggling" to each other just out of sight , its very errie .

I was mighty tempted to take a foolish chance !

What I hate is when you get one that doesn't run off and just kind of stands there and looks at you like they have no fear. The yipping and yapping they do at dusk when I am hiking out of a spot will make my skin crawl just a bit.
