Hunts have been few and far between last 6 months. But I had Sunday morning to myself and was determined to get out in the woods. The plan was to hit an old mill site. It's been pounded over the years but it is very trashy. I figured with some hard work and patience I could sniff out a goodie or two. Got up early, drove to the spot, parked the car, hiked up the trail only to find that the small stream I had crossed with ease back in the spring was now a raging torrent. I hiked up and down stream as far as I could but could not find a place to get across. :girlcry: Since I only had a few hours I didn't even have a "Plan B" in mind.
I hit a nearby nearby spot that had some over grown former pastures and stock pens but no cellar holes. Found some lead, harmonica reed, a 1930's vintage container of Iodex Ointment, rusty sickle blade tip and a stock bell. Found the collar buckle right next to the bell.

A bit cold but the sun managed to poke through a few times. Saw a coyote slinking off through the scrub oak. It was good to get out!
