I've found lots of French related items this summer. This Franc coin spill is the latest. I understand why we dig foreign coins from the colonial period but what I can't figure out is why we dig them from around the turn of the century. I've dug multiple British and French coins from this time period...did people still use them in New England 100 yrs ago?
Anyone see what that is on that two-piece button? I wonder if it wasn't a three piece button and that was some kind of connecting material. The merc is a bent 1943.
Thanks!!
PS The ant is pointing at a rock that rang up as a perfect 77 (brass button). It didn't sound like any hot rock. It isn't magnetic. Maybe spent coal?
