1840 Van Buren vs Harrison Presidential Log Cabin Campaign Button

Digger Don

Alec and I took a drive into Ohio this weekend to do a little detecting. We stopped at one park early in the morning and i dug up a button with a log cabin on it. I thought it was probably junk, but Alec looked it up on Google. Turns out it's an 1840 Van Buren vs, Harrison Presidential Campaign button. I know absolutely nothing about this other than what I read online.
Has anyone ever seen one before?
I'm posting photos from Google as well for comparison.

:wow: great Harrison campaign button Don :perfect10: Alec did very well on his detective work:notworthy:

Awesome find ! :thumbsup02: I've never seen one posted in all the years I have followed forums . :congrats:It's very strange to imagine a campaign button without a name or at least initials on it . Back in the day those must have cost the candidate a pretty penny to have manufactured .

I can't figure out why but all of a sudden pancakes sound like an ideal breakfast .

Great button Don :notworthy: a little CLR diluted in water brushed on for a few seconds at time will make that button's gilt "pop" .

Great find Don, and to nab one with nearly all the gilt on it is even better! Maybe we can get you hooked on the older relics yet!

That's a nice button. Nope, never heard of such before. Thought the log cabin would have to do with his birthplace, but that was in NY and not VT.
