just getting around to posting Saturday's finds with Trooper Bri . We hit a "new site" that turned out to be a pretty trashy and overgrown site , targets were found but mostly late 1800's to early 1900' era junk. In one of the fields i pulled up a mid to late 1800's era lead filled heart shaped martingale or decorative chest badge to a horse harness and a button . after a few very slow hours we moved onto a hard hit colonial cabin site where i scoffed a deep 1757 King George II copper and then onto a last site where all the rest of my buttons and a nice decorative knee buckle shown up .

On a comparative note you've probably found as many or if not more 1757 coins than I have 1957's .:lol:

Nice, Dan. Sounds like your site was just like mine. Looking forward if any of these get cleaned up a bit. I can see the design already to buckle, but maybe after a cleaning it would be a nicer view.

Jeff , i love the 10x12 detech butterfly SEF coil , its a bit heavy and i certainly have to stay away from the cellar lips with it because it covers so much area . But it gobbles up the deep buttons and small coins that sound iffy to other machines and coils . I pulled a nice Half dime today just 35 feet from a pounded cellar site. I've hit coppers at 13 inches in the open fields and they sound nice a clear too.

Excellent Dan. Nice variety of finds and of course the KG. Very few of those up here seeing the Indians kept consistent habitation at bay until c. 1780 or so. So I plead ignorance. What's a martingale?

John the Martingale was used as a shiny brass or copper decoration on the chest strap of a horse harness , heart shapes were popular themes as were shields , stars
