I actually found a silver coin .

Hey 1 out of 13 targets was a silver....I would take that ratio any day!

So would I but my true average ratio of trash to worthwhile targets is pretty dismal .

I hunted for about an hour and a half .It's an old baseball field behind a school . Over the years I have gotten some great silver coins and nice pieces of jewelry out of it .The targets both junk and good are far and few between now . This is an exceptionally good night for me hunting there now .

Grats on the silver! I really hate those screw caps, they sound so much like good coins. Think hunting in a field of iron is bad? How about a park with thousands of those caps? :bangshead01:

So many good sounding targets I dig turn out to be junk and all the junk sounding targets I dig turn out to be junk . I take pride in being consistent .:lol:

I'm going for it all Timmy . At this stage of my detecting career even the pulltabs are getting interesting . It's great to just get out there and find almost anything and see how my different detectors react to different situations .:yes:

For sure !! I have been on two more hunts ( 3 hrs.total ) since then and I have found less than 2 dozen junk targets and only one coin (a 1981 Memorial cent ).
