My best 2017 finds...an 8 Reales tops the list

My 6th year of detecting was really a mixed bag. Despite detecting almost every weekend, my totals for silver coins and coppers were WAY off from previous years. Yet, on the bright side I managed to find two of my greatest "bucket list" coin finds ever...an 1821 Capped Bust Dime (my first Capped Bust coin and oldest US silver) and an 1806 Spanish 8 Reales (only my second Spanish coin and my first "silver dollar" sized coin). Some of my other favorite finds this year included 3 complete colonial shoe/knee buckles, an old and very well worn silver Navy ring, a skeleton key/silver ring "spill", and a silver pocket watch marked "coin silver" on the inside of the case. Thanks for looking. Best of luck and HH to everyone in the New Year!

You found some amazing items! Yeah that 8 real is probably the best but I love that capped bust dime, the silver pocket watch and that skeleton key too!

Congrats on the great year you had!

Just some wonderful items you found sir and congrats! I still can't get over the 8 Reales. It's so big it just doesn't seem real. I absolutely love the old silver pocket watch too. What a great personal item from long ago. Best of luck in '18.

Wow! Awesome finds and congratulations! I love the pocket watch because I am a WIS (Watch Idiot Savant)! :lolsign:

I'd say you had a very productive year indeed! My copper total was half of what it usually is.
It seems most people were lower this year. :dontknow:
Pretty coins!!

Those are some great saves !:notworthy: Beautiful CB dime and I couldn't imagine hearing that 8 real under my coil ! Thanks for sharing !

You might not think your year was great but I'm gonna disagree. Beautiful Capped Bust dime and and 8 reales....huge congrats. I have to mention the skeleton key also...love them.

A great variety of goodies for sure! There's a lot of historical items to dig in our corner of the country.

Looks like an incredible year to me! :notworthy:

I will take quality over quantity every time! You have some top shelf finds there. The 1821 Capped Bust Dime is gorgeous, and the 8 Reales is off the charts! I like the silver pocket watch too, I have never found one.

Congrats on the banner finds, and here's hoping for an even more productive 2018!

:congrats:
