Sundays finds-old pennies, nickles, Arizona tax tokens and an interesting ring

The wife and I spent a few hours on Sunday afternoon hunting in our default location, the nearby woods.
Since I found the gold bracelet recently, Julia scanned it with her detector and realized that her discrimination was set too high to pick it up.
It has been adjusted lol

As a result, she is finding more nickles. She dug a war nickle on Saturday when she was hunting by herself and found a buffalo, an old Jefferson and another war nickle on Sunday. She also scored 6 wheaties and her 4th Indian head, a nice 1900. Her Cutlass must like those Indian heads because I have yet to dig one.

Also on Saturday, she found 4 1/10 penny Arizona tax tokens. They are about 1/2 the size of a penny and we found that during the depression, people were so poor that the state government would figuire taxes down to the tenth of a penny, to avoid rounding.

I found 4 wheaties, A Buffalo, and an interesting engagement-style sterling ring. I am wondering what kind of stone is in it. I know that real diamonds are rarely put in silver rings but most other fake diamonds would be scratched up or chipped after being in the ground for 50+ years-that is the usual age for most things we find in this location. I can't find a scratch on this stone. Makes me wonder if it isn't at least a semi-precious stone like amethyst.

I wish my wife was interested in detecting...but maybe next year. rofl

Good hunt there, Bill! Those tokens are sweet finds. Your wife sure is killing the nickels now! She might start hitting on some gold too. thumbsup01

Nice area you have there. I know why you call it the default area. I would be there all the time lol The stone may be clear quartz. That is what it looks like to me, especially since it is not heavilly faceted. Cool looking tax tokens too. What a great place for some older coins

OOPS lol I bet that never happens again.

I don't know why I didn't think of quartz 8/
That's probably it.

Great finds you posted. :clapping:

The tax token is very cool. A nice keeper for your collection.

The ring is nice looking too.... another nice addition to your collection.

As mentioned by others, glad to hear it is a hobby you and your wife can share. I definitely wish mine was more interested as well. Maybe next year.

Congrats to you and your wife... awesome finds! :clapping:
