I have finally got out for the first time this week. Yesterday was a cold but sunny 31 degrees with a little snow on the ground yet. The ground has been thawed for some time now, but just have not gotten out yet. Well yesterday was my 2nd hunt of the year and I made what I think is a spectacular find. This is an 1876 centennial medallion about the size of a half dollar. Found at about 6 inches with my Coinmaster amongst 6 nails all within about 1 foot of each other. I did some searching and found a reference to another one of these on tnet, coincidentally also found at a Milwaukee park.
The medallion has on it: In Commemoration of our Independence and busts of Von Steuben and Washington. Found a photo of one that recently sold on ebay for $100.
