Picked up a new (to me) Royal 800 coil over the weekend and dug the detector out of the garage to put batteries in and clean it up. Excited to get out there again!

Hey all,
I am interested in detecting at night due to people around here getting uptight at the sight of a digger and/or someone cutting a plug in the park lawn.
With that said, are there any special tools I can use for night detecting? Thinking along the lines of some sort of headband...
I'm sure most of you know about this cool online resource for old newspapers but if not, here is the link. I'd be interested in any other online resources folks may know of.

Does anyone bother to insure their MD gear?
After my experience the other day with trashing a perfectly good detector, I started thinking that if that had been an etrac..... ouch!
So there I was yesterday with a hot tip that fell into my lap. A hugely popular beach in the 1800s that no one visits anymore..
I happened to have the detector in the car so off I go on a whim.. woohoo!
Get there and find out that I'll have to do some mountain climbing... no problem.. grab the...

Just wanted to say hello! I've had a Whites XLT for about 100 years now and just recently got back into detecting (we moved to UTaaaaaah from SoCal 6 years ago and the detector was lost for most of that time... we won't go into HOW it became lost....ahem...idiot brother-inlaw...
