A big silver surprise for me!

I was digging at a place that has produced dozens of silvers for me in the past and I get a bouncy 88-92 signal on my V3 and its shallow only about 3 inches deep. I know how this signal usually works out to be an aluminum can or random piece of metal. So i decide to dig anyway...:crossfingers...

    Thanks Digger Al!

This post is a few months in the making but still relevant. Back on 12-28-14 I was hunting with a buddy Digger Don at a local honey hole of mine and my V3s batteries were dead. So instead of running to the store I asked Don if I could try out his son Als e-trac since he wasnt with us that...

Dont go door knocking in Lemont, Illinois!

So my buddy E-Trac Tim and I decide to do a bit of door knocking in the town of Lemont, Illinois incorporated in 1836. We go to a couple of doors and get two NOs right off the bat. So we get back in the car and head off to the next location. I capitalized the NO for a reason. So......on the way...

Part 1........ So Diggers Don, Al and and I were going over a place I had hunted before with a friend of ours Etrac Tim and we are finding the usual stuff when a gentleman I recognize comes up to us and strikes up a conversation. He was driving and saw us detecting and stopped by with a curious...

Two llittle Indains and a 1931 dog tax hanger.

Found these little cuties at an 1880s home in a neighboring town a week or two back. A random door knock as well and man they have really been paying off too. The coins are 1881 and 1906 Indians. Their patinas differ very distinctly. Both were found in different parts of the yard. I may have...

Cool 1950s projectile cap gun and other finds.

Found this cute little gun at a 1930s house. The silver came from there as well oddly enough. Ill take two Barbs 1911d and 1899 over rosies or Mercs any day. The gun has some cool colors especially the faux "blueing" on the nicer side. Too bad the color didnt transfer that great in the photos...

Civil War Cavalry soldiers button in Illinois!!

Found this beauty in a home in Kane County Illinois. It was only a few inches deep and rang up in the mid 50s to low 60s on my AT PRO. It has a Scoville waterbury mark on the back and is a two piece button. Not sure how to clean it up a bit or if at all but I did give it a light brushing with...

Rare Indiana token and other interesting finds at an 1840s home.

I found these items at an 1840s home I have the exclusive right to detect at. The suspender items were all in an area by a large tree. The buckles were found in different places on the property. The axe is a real cool find as I have not seen another one like it. Im thinking its from the late...

    Woodchip held a secret surprise.

I got a faint signal while i was hunting in the woods. I dug down around 4 inches and my pointer kept ringing as I looked through my dirtpile but i could not find the coin. It did keep going off on this little wood chip so I kept it. After i got home and cleaned it off i could still see nothing...

More random relics from St Louis area.

Found these this summer by my sisters house in Missouri. Some I cleaned up with electrolysis. The spark plug was from a hunt here at home in the Glen Ellyn area. Thanks for looking. When I found the dime bank I rattled it and thought i hit the mother lode but alas it was empty and it fell apart...

Found a cool old bottle I nearly resurrected.

Found this bottle while digging. Most of the pieces were in the hole so I gave it a shot. Looks to be from the mid 1800s? You bottle guys can give me a precise age on it I hope. Also pictured are some other neat bottles I found recently as well.

    Odds and ends.

Just a few more finds from the recent past. The button is an eyeball find from a ballfield tearout at my work out at U of Illinois in Chicago. The bullet was actualyl a whole live 50 caliber bullet that fell apart when I tried to clean it. The horseshoe came from the 1840s house I have been...
