    Friday Hunt - 5 hours

I took today off and went back to the field that's been just coughing up great stuff. Today was another great day, 1893 Barber Quarter, 1806/07 King George III Halfpenny, 1879 Indian Penny, a wheat penny, a bunch of buttons, a pendant, a lead bell, a buckle and a clad dime. 1893 Barber when...

More finds and button id help

I found some on ebay, it seems it's a button from Austria: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-18mm-Austria-Brass-BUTTON-MAXIMILIANUS-1493-POT-MAX-INV-CAES/111314589452?hash=item19eaddd70c:g:KAsAAMXQuTNTOGj-

Independence Hall 1776 - lead "thing"

Hey guys, I've been trying to identify this thing for months. It's some kind of memento (I think) for Independence Hall. It says "'Independence Hall" across the top and "17" on left side of steeple and "76" on right side. It's heavy (37g), it has to be lead. It was found at the same old...

Heading over to the UK in March 2018 - anyone been before?

Hey all, I just reserved a spot with www.metaldetectingholidays.com for the March 2018 tour with Brandon. I would love to dig a Roman and they look like they've been pretty successful. Has anyone else been on these tours? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ken

Took day off, glad I did - 1827 Liberty Cap, GW Button and a 1722 French coin

I took the next few Friday's off to use for all day detecting fun. Today my first stop was a new farm field permission. However, after 2 hours I only had one button and a handful of clad. So, I went to the field I found that Seated Half Dollar last week. I'm glad I did...in the first 30...

Seated Half and a bunch of buttons

Got out early this morning to hit a very old farm field. This is a great field that has produced a ton of awesome finds for me earlier this year, including a 1789 1/2 Reales. I was digging buttons for a few hours and finally got a high tone. I dug it live, so it was cool it turned out to be...

Weird day - nabbed my first 2 cent piece

Thanks all! Tony, here's the thimble and button. The button is big and the shank was in good shape. It was also the first thimble I ever found not crushed. Thanks! I've been waiting to dig one of those. Yes, the bust was odd to me too. I found some CT copper variations that had a...

Weird day - nabbed my first 2 cent piece

What a weird and wild day. Dug almost all day with my buddy Rob. I locked my keys in the Jeep in the middle of a farm field, the permission owners were awesome. They made me coffee and gave me peanut butter tastycakes while I waited for roadside assistance. He said it was the first time he...

    1806 Draped Bust 1/2 Cent

My short after work hunt paid off - 1806 Draped Bust 1/2 Cent. In rough shape but my first 1/2 cent so I'm thrilled. Looks like a 1806 to you guys as well? It was that or an 1805, but looks like a 6 to me.

Cornet Head Large Cent and Regiment of Riflemen button

Thanks all! I'm not a big button guy and I'll be honest, I was like "please don't be a button" when I was pulling it out of the plug hoping it was my first 2 cent...but I really like this one lol. I think this one is better clarity. I noticed the large bugle end (right side) is smaller, the...

Cornet Head Large Cent and Regiment of Riflemen button

The best items from today's short hunt in South Jersey. An 181?(8) Cornet Head Large Cent and a cool button. I think it is a 1813-1815 Regiment of Riflemen button but I can't make out the # on the inside to tell which regiment it was.

Badge/Shield with a Dragon or Eagle?

Hey Del, I don't think it's brass but that's just a guess. Here is a photo for sizing.

Badge/Shield with a Dragon or Eagle?

Hi Del, nothing really on other side. I gently brushed off the dirt and I don't see any details.

Badge/Shield with a Dragon or Eagle?

Hi all, I been trying to identify this item for a few days without success. It was found on an old farm field in NJ that has given up lots of large cents, reales and King George coins. It's heavy for its size (5 grams) and it rings up a little lower than a penny would. Any ideas or...

    1785 Carlos III 2 Reales

Here are the photos of the coin after I cleaned it using a baking soda paste and some soft rubbing. The scuff looks worse now that the coin is cleaned. I think it was caused by me hand digging the dirt out from under that root. It must have been pulled though the soil into view. I think a...

    1785 Carlos III 2 Reales

Ahhhh....check off a bucket lister!!! 1785 Carlos III 2 Reales! This bugger was like 12 inches deep and under a big root (hard to see root in photo, bottom left in photo). I scuffed it a little getting it out from under that root, disappointed I did that but I thought for sure it was trash that...

    1875 Seated Dime

I got lucky and found my second seated dime this year. Not as old as my 1855 one from earlier in the year, but it's great seeing these in the hole!
