Advice on a S. Florida beach to hunt.

Well time has fianally come for me to take my youngest son to a collage open house which means I am just 1 year away from being an open nester. Anyway, my son is interested in attending Florida Atlantic so plans are being put into motion to go down to Boca in a few weeks. Can't possibly pass up...

Please help identify this lid belived to be from late 1890's.

A few months back our detector club was given permission to detect the old fort Desoto settlement which took place during the Spanish American war in the late 1800's. The only catch was whatever we found went into the museum there, but a loy of fun anyway. So I found the pictured item which...

    Sand Shark sound question

I have noticed with my Sand Shark that every now and then it makes a quick what I call a burp sound. Kind of a very quick twang. It's not repeatable and its definetly does not sound like a metal tone. It's just a quick twang and then its gone. I dont think it is anything affecting the machine I...

    Tide charts

Just an FYI on a very good tide chart site for anywhere USA. Its called protides.com. It has a map for your area and points of where tide data is taken and then a calendar showing daily tide swings. It's my #1 tool for beach hunting.

    Karma karma Karma Chameleon

This morning was my first chance since my returning the engagement ring back to owner on Monday and despite a storm on the horizon and waves crashing the beach I went for a short hunt this morning anyway. Only able to detect for less than 30 minutes before I was chased off by heavy rains and...

    Lastest Ring!! and happy ending

Found the below ring today. I thought it was just another silver costume jewelry ring until... I checked craigs list and there it was listed as a silver spider tourquois and Topaz ring!! Contacted the post through craigs list with an answer within minutes. Turns out it is the ladies engagement...

Sandy has a voice and its soft and sweet like gold.

At the urging of my wife (how ridiculously awsome is that) I went for a short hunt yesterday at my local beach with Sandy. Sandy is the pet name my wife gave my Sand Shark. She figures if she has to share me with my detector, it should at least have a name. Anyway, tide was going out, but wind...

    Finally Gold!

Not wanting to bore you guys with all the costume jewelry or small silver rings I have found I have been hesitant on putting my finds up against the awsome relics and coins I see and enjoy on this site each day. However, gold is another story all together. Found my first gold ring yesterday. A...

In expensive yet high quality headphones

Looking for a set of quality headphones, but don't want to break ther bank? Try checking out your local anitique shops. Most (especially the ones with inside vendor booths) will have a set or two of vintage headphones from the 70's and they work well with your detector. Back in the day when...

    advice on a new detector

I'm thinking of selling my Whites Prism V and getting something different that does a better job at the beach in dry sand and can also do a decent job relic hunting. I think I will have around $400 after the sale and the money I saved from my beach finds. Any suggestions on a detector that does...

    My First Ring! (picture added)

Well I finally found my first ring today. A ladies class ring (class of 2011 which graduates next week) at my usual local beach in the dry sand. But life is funny. Turns out upon a quick look the ring turns out to belong to the daughter of someone we know here in town. Needless to say she was...

    New Tesoro Sand Shark

I just purchased a new Tesoro Sand Shark last week. So far lots of trash and a few clad and small charms. If anyone has used or is currently using a Sand Shark and has any tips, experiences or feed back it would be greatly appreciated. Mostly I have been trying to get a good setting that gives...
