    Whatzit?

I'm guessing it's a decorative piece off of a carriage (found in an area where previous finds make me suspect carriages would park to attend burials at an adjoining cemetery). Anyone?

    AT PRO gone WILD!

I've never had a moment of trouble with my AT PRO. Today, after detecting for a short while, it started to false when it wasn't being swung. First, it would show mostly "53" and a mid tone. Then, it started to false continuously -- beeps (mostly mid-tones, but a few others) and numbers all over...

    Some kind of hinge?

John - I found this at the site near the pond where you found the silver dime in the daylilly patch. I think the book latch is the most likely candidate.

    Some kind of hinge?

Found this at an old cellar hole. It is brass or bronze or some such metal. The decorative piece on the left was obviously made to clasp something thin -- the dot in the middle is a very small, delicate pin that would have gone through whatever was being held in between the top and bottom. Whatzit?

Found this on an old, forest road near some old cellar holes. It's heavy, and the copper/gold is flaking off. ???

    Buckle and unknown ID Please

That's a Cub Scout belt loop skills badge. Cub Scouts earn them for learning different things. Originally, the indented parts would have been painted.

I Find the Strangest Things in my Backyard

Here's a few more things I found in my backyard yesterday: My first Ox knob (a pretty small one, too) and my third flat button. The buckle looks like it was off of some horse tack Can any button experts tell anything about it?

    Dating a Horseshoe

Pulled this out of my backyard - about 6 inches down. Does anyone know if it's possible to date a horseshoe by its appearance?

Reckon what the badge said originally?

The DLER looks like the right half of a name plate for a Chandler Motor Car, a popular car brand in the 1910s and 20s. I found a wire wheel hub cap from one in my backyard this week.

I Find the Strangest Things in my Backyard

Digging in the backyard of my home in northeast Vermont -- As far as I know, the land had always been pasture until my home was built on it about 25 years ago. We abut a very old cemetery (goes back to early 1800s -- there might even be a late 1700s grave or two in there). Lots of antique...
