1600's era silver !!

Wow, that seems like a once in a lifetime kind of find right there! Congrats on such a cool item. The best part is that is looks like new... you can only imagine who the last person to touch that item was before you found it... just amazing!

Z it was surely someone who was very well off to spend so much on a non necessity , a type of colonial man-jewelry and a symbol of his social status in the community.thanks for the comments.

yes the Roosie was the last silver coin i wanted to see at a possible 300 year old homesite :hairpulling: lol lol

Dan, :congrats: on scratching some items off the bucket list. That silver buckle looks just fantastic. You must be stoked.

Really very nice Dan. I've only got half as many in about 15 years but they are my favs. I have a short video that shows me digging a silver buckle. YouTube cttodd1

That's a super find.
Whe find those here to and if i look at the list of buckle's here the are all from 1700.



With 1 find today i scratched off a couple of things off my bucket list
which was to find a complete 1600's shoe buckle :happy:
and a complete solid silver shoe buckle :bananadance:

well today i did both with this one find <: :happydance01: happydance02 :peace:





its a very small shoe buckle , they generally were a lot smaller in the 1600's but this one could very well be a child's



even the cross pin is silver Dave :shocked03: and Drew and I were both shocked that the chape and tongue moved very freely right after it was dug which is amazing after more than 320 years in the ground



heres the knee buckle (silver plated) and shoe buckle .

and the rest of the finds , the buttons were plain tombacs and a couple of smaller plain brass ones , part of a pewter spoon and a musket ball

Thanks Willems , i have those two links in the Ye Olde Relic Hunter's Resource Guide stickied at the top of the that page . I actually voted for your shoe buckle (as it was even older than mine) love those early pieces.

:wow: Great Buckles Dan !! Can you imagine the wealth the owner must of had to own something like that ? Great going and good to hear that the Bugs are going away. This Summer was terrible .

I found an all silver pin once. Although it's not 200+ years old :dontknow: lol but I was surprised that the pin on the ... pin ... was silver too. :yes:

Definitely a rare one. I can only recall one early solid silver knee buckle being dug anywhere close to me. Was nice though, early 1700s with hallmarks!
