It is fascinating to think about who may have held the coins last, and how they may have been lost.

If you look at the dirty picture of the Geo II, you can still see 174 and I think the last digit my be an 8. So 174_ something lol Dan should be able to tell us if that profile version matches the estimated date.

I can just about make that out too. :happydance01: It's not in great condition, but at least much of the detail is discernible.

one word says it all AWSOME thumbsup01

Thank you JT! thumbsup01

INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

What is more amazing is the museum quality cleaning you gave those coins. (Maybe restoration is a better word)

Do you mind if I ask the steps you performed in the cleaning process?? I like the Renaissance Wax as a final step-But dying to know what you did...

Congratulations!! :perfect10: :perfect10:

wow :omg: Angel , Shame on you \:hammer: \:hammer: ... picking up two beautiful women like that at one time . :eyebrow: who else feels very inadequate , raise your hand

Thank you for the compliment. The fact that the coppers had a slight amount of soil on them, as well as limited corrosion, did help. :embarrassed: Caked-on soil would have given me fits. lol

I did not use any water at all. Given the slight amount of soil on them I cleaned them by using a coin conditioner, applying the liquid with cotton swabs (Q-Tip) to remove most of the dirt. It took several applications, gently swabbing the coin from different directions, especially targeting areas where the soil was embedded. After that I allowed the coins to dry. After drying I applied more coin conditioner, followed by a another drying period, until I was satisfied with the results. The conditioner does add a protective coating to the coin. Once it is completely dry, off to a 2X2 the coin goes.
