1812 Imperial Kopek

Decided I needed a day off. Hit a couple of remote cellar holes that I had pounded to death years back. There was signs of some very recent detecting but I managed to pull some goodies from the iron patches. Dug a Russian 1812 - 2 Kopek copper right near the tree growing out of the cellar hole. Fattest copper I've ever dug. It has some heft to it.

Cleaned up nice.

Also dug some buttons, broken knee buckle, tongue and chape and a gun flint that was in the hole with a button.

What a good looking coin Jeff! I've never found one but saw one being dug. That's a special year for Russia too!! :congrats:

very nice Jeff , it did clean up well and show a great amount of detail too.

Thanks folks. Drew, I have to admit you made me open up my history book (googled it ;)). That indeed was a key date so to speak. That wasn't the first or the last time a Russian winter defeated an invader.
