1865 2-Cent Piece

Late in the day I had a couple of hours to relax, so what better way to do so than to spend the time detecting. I headed to a local town common where the large trees there shade the ground and the usual cool breeze makes for a pleasant time swinging the coil. Targets at this common are very few, but on occasion it surprises me with a neat find, like today. :happydance01:

Based on the tone and Fe/Co numbers, I wasn't expecting anything more than an old wheat cent when I dug the target, but what a surprise it was to see a 2-Cent piece pop out of the ground! It is in beautiful condition too! :smitten:

I also dug this old pin.

Two old wheat cents made the rest of the finds.

Nice finds Angel and congrats on your Minelab write-up! The 2-center is well preserved for that part of the country. Congrats on another succesful hunt.

Them 2 centers have to be one of the neatest looking coins :smitten: :smitten: how is there anything left in a 40 mile radius of you :dontknow: |) |)

What a beautiful 2 Cent Piece. That is going to clean up very nice. :smitten: I'd just love to find one of those this year.
You are right, this is such a pleasant time of year to detect. Not hot, not cold... just right. The ground is soft too.
Come August, it is whole different ball game.
Congrats Angel.

Hmmm... work, or take off early detecting :thinkingabout: :thinkingabout: Yep, detecting wins every time lol That is one brand, spankin' new 2 cent piece :shocked04: Immaculate condition. :clapping: That '10 S and '09 are real clean too and in dropped soon after minting also. Nice quick hunt.

WTG, Angel thumbsup01. I do envy your abilities and hunting grounds. Seems like most of the early to mid 1800's coins come from back East. Congrats <:
