I didn't drive far today to go detecting, opting to do so locally as I expected to be out for just a few hours. Instead of hitting a park I detected the water's edge of a pond. It was hard digging there as the sandy ground was somewhat frozen. I had to push hard on the shovel while sawing the blade back and forth to cut through the first inch, but after that it was easy digging. The finds were sparse, but I did score with old silver. :happydance01:
This was my first good target, a 1873 Greece silver 1 Drachma. It's just about the size of a U.S. quarter.
My second coin was this 1874 Canadian silver dime. :happydance01:
After those two coins I picked up a silver earring, two religious pendants, a Indian Head cent (no photo), and a silver ring.
