1893 World's Columbian Exposition Token

DiggerAl and I went for another 1 hour hunt after work today. We went to the same house I hunted yesterday. Alec hunted the back yard and found an old button, Part of an old lighter, some kind of gold Medal Medallion, a couple of wheats and a very nice 1893 World's Columbian Exposition souvenir token. It was deep and at first he thought he had a large cent, then he saw the shiny scratch and new it wasn't copper. He's bummed about the scratch, but it happens sometimes. Better scratched and in his pocket than not scratched and still 9" down in the ground.
I worked the front yard some more and dug 5 wheats, a small aluminum spatula and a 1950 Rosie.

When I first looked at it, I didn't think so, but since it could be tarnish and the detail held up really well it just might be silver.

I really don't think so. I don't have a tester, but it feels too light to be Silver. Although it did clean up quite easily.
I'll do some research and find out.

From a recently acquired lot of eclectic Coins is this Aluminum Souvenir Medal dated 1893 and issued for use as a give-away Souvenir at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The obverse features a picture of a roll ot twine with the words "Twine from wood fiber - Patented" superimposed on the roll of twine. Around the top rim is a banner reading "World's Columbian Exposition" and near the bottom is the date "1893". The reverse has a scene of a team of horses pulling a harvester and beneath that is the legend "Wm. Deering & Co. - Chicago". Just above the bottom rim is the word "Souvenir". It is in Uncirculated condition and is holed (as made). "SEE SCAN"

What a beautiful token! So much incredible detail on it. I've never seen one before, but I found a few examples online. There is one for sale on eBay right now for $65.
