I recently got out for some door knocking here in the town where I live. I got a very friendly "yes" at the first house. The house is probably from the early 1900s and has a vacant lot on both sides. I was encouraged to hunt both lots and the front and back yard of the home.
Almost all of my finds came at the rear of one of the vacant lots. I suspect there was a house there at one time as there is still a well curb on the lot. Many of the finds were in the vicinity of the well curb.
I ended up with 1900 and 1905 Indian Head Cents, a 1902 V Nickel, 1910 and 1912-D Barber Dimes, and a 1936 Merc.
The relics include an old padlock and a 1916 Motor Vehicle Registration tag.
When I got home I researched the padlock and discovered that it is a souvenir padlock from the 1901 Pan American Exposition World's Fair which was held in Buffalo, New York. The padlock says "America" on one side and has the date "1901" on the other side. Pretty cool find.
