1904 St. Louis World's Fair Ring "The Louisiana Purchase Exposition"

I have always had a strong interest in the 1904 Worlds Fair held in St.Louis, with several items
in my home from the fair, but until today (Friday) I've never found anything directly linked to the fair
with my metal detector. Friday 10-24-2014 was my lucky day...

Denny, that is absolutely the most beautiful world's fair ring I have EVER seen! It must be rare because I cannot find another like it anywhere on the internet. An excellent find my friend! Best wishes and HH, Dave.
 
Wow, That is an awesome find. A large hunk of Silver and it has historical significance.

I saw this on Facebook and I'm glad you posted it here, Denny. It is absolutely the most beautiful silver ring I've ever seen! :smitten:

And such a historical piece as well! That would be a "best find" in most people's collections. :yes:

Congrats on the silver. I thought it looked like Jefferson but I had to brush up on my wiki-history and it was Jefferson doing the Louisiana Purchase. Does anyone know if they were still using makers marks until 1905? The three symbols below the word patent.... intersting.
 
The makers marks indicate "Last Quarter of the Nineteenth Century" This makes sense that the wheels of production would have been in place years before the fair. Note the Fair was to be the 1903 fair exactly 100 years after the signing of the Louisiana Purchase. BUT like the previous fair was delayed one year to 1904 because building time was needed to complete.

Great find! Weinman the engraver who designed the walking liberty and Merc dimes did the engraving for all the pendants and medals. Which I know because of finding a 1904 worlds fair commemorative pendant myself. I wonder if he also designed the ring?

I'd sure like to know if he was the engraver, it would sure add to the story, thanks for all the kind words!
