1906D Barber Half, Barber Trifecta

It's been almost two months since my last hunt due to the hot weather and bone dry soil conditions. Sunday it rained all day and I decided to go Monday night to a park that I have been slowly cleaning. Started off on the soccer field and was only getting clad and pull tabs then finally I got a 1916 Buffalo. Soccer players showed up and had to move to another spot, then got a 46D and 38 wheats. Decided to move again to the opposite side of the hedgerow adjacent to the soccer field by an old tree close to some power lines. First signal was 1906D Barber dime. Checked again and out came a 1943 Mercury dime. Scanned again and got a quarter signal, this time it's an 1893O Barber quarter. Set my machine to pro zero and got a large fast high tone with iron, dug the hole and out came my first silver half an 1906D Barber, rechecked and found the rusty nail. At this point I was in shock because I didn't think the park was that old and it was getting dark fast. Next target was a deep 1900 Barber dime under a large root. With all of the high signals gone I was able to get two very green V nickels, 1899 and 1903. The last three targets were three green no date Indians. All of the coins were in a 1x2ft area. Thanks for looking, HH.

:omg:

What a hunt, Rob! :wow:

Terrific photos too! I love the shots of the coins still in the dirt clods. I like how you can see the vegatation stains on the Barber Half too. That's a lot of old coins in a small concentrated area. I wonder if they were all part of the same spill?

Congrats on the Barber Trifecta! That's an awesome accomplishment, I have never done it.

When I was watching the Bears game on Sunday I noticed that it was raining pretty good in Chicago. I wish we would get some rain, it is still incredibly dry down here.

Congrats on the amazing day! |)

Sweet Mary Jane! What a hunt! :omg: and :wow: and :omg: again.

:shocked04:....what an awesome group of finds :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

But here's what I wanna know.....Unless you're bringing a back drop with you on your hunt...did you bring the clumps of dirt home too? lol

I did bring the clumps of dirt home with me, I just put them in the small zipper portion of my finds pouch, good eye...

That is a hunt to remember :shocked04: :clapping: Congrats on some fine Barber coins :peace: Going to be hard to beat that one, but you may have found a good spot for silver. I guess that place is that old after all lol

incredible day of barbers :perfect10: congratulations on a spectacular hunt :clapping: :clapping:

Tony,

I'm pretty sure it was a coin spill. Any idea how to clean the toasted Indians?
Awesome.
Hot peroxide soaks have worked well on my IH's.
I put a quarter cup in the micro for 55 seconds left them soak for 15 mins then remove pennies reheat and repeat 5 or 6 times. I
change the peroxide when you don't get the foaming action when you drop the pennies in.

:omg: Rob! :wow:
Nice little hot spot! thumbsup01
Don't you wish you could bottle that feeling you were feeling when all those coins were popping out of the ground! <: happydance02 ... lol
Sweet hunt dude! |:cheering:
Congrats!
