2 Coppers - - -#21 and 22

Went out this morning to the field and scored 2 more coppers making them #21 and #22.

One is toast and I have idea of what it could be.

One is a KGIII and the only number in the date field that I can see is an 8. I am pretty sure that this is a counterfeit as it only rang up as a VDI 55.

2 more coins for the signature.

thanks for reading and HH everyone.

While I was there I saw the workers working on the potatoes so maybe in the near future there will be another space for me to detect.

Nice Al. Shows that some spots can have a lot of coppers dropped. Esp if it's a field.
There were two types of counterfeits, but I believe that applied to the KG2 mostly. However, why couldn't they do it for a KG3 or a Matron cuz I have seen both of those as the completely different metal (lead or whatever). But in the KG2 world and time as far as the article indicated, they melted the full copper and added other alloys and recast. Just because the copper was expensive and the alloys weren't. Apparently it was significant enough to bother going through all that effort to do so.

I thought about you today Al and wondered how you fared among the corn stubble . Well done , that farm sure was a successful one back in the day ! Congrats !!

Very cool Al. It does have that counterfeit look to it.

I agree with Jeff , the coin is very suspicious to being a counterfeit .

Congrats Al, that field is really paying out! Let's just hope there is money in potatoes too! :hystericallaugh:

Of all the French Fries I have purchased over the years maybe I get something in return...

I have often wondered why someone would go thru all the trouble of counterfeiting 1/2 penny's....:dontknow:

I think I have only one other counterfeit. This one was only 1 1/2 inch down, in a section of corn that had a pass road thru it. Can't wait for this corn to be harvested.

Dan, thanks for the thoughts. I also have some home chores that need to be done before the snow flies, like painting both porches. Any time you want to go my friend let me know...:thumbsup02:

You making fun of my coins....:hystericallaugh:

nice! man thats alot of coins,

Yes, the coppers are a major part of what comes out of this field.

go al !!!!! looks like you have found a field like mine, well done mate

Nobody has a honey hole like you got.

You have found a dream field for sure, Al! Keep on mining those coppers!

:perfect10:

Hope to get back there next week. I sneaked out Wednesday when I should have been painting the porches.

Your field of dreams for sure Al! Nice stab on the 2 new coppers. I've hunted a set of fields with a hunting buddy where over 50 coppers have been found, so I can see why you keep going back!

John
