3rd Visit to the Siege Camp--another old silver!

Hey diggers,
I could hear the rain beating against my windows as I was getting dressed at o-dark-thirty this morning. A quick check of the radar and it looks like it will stop in about an hour or two. I hit the road and headed to my new honey hole, the siege site. 3 major sieges there. 1676 (Armies of the Holy Roman Empire took it from the French), 1688 (the French took it back), and 1734 (the French took it back again and blew it up this time). I only got one coin but it is a good one! 1684 French 2 Sols..another old silver! woo-hoo. I found some good 1600's buckles and quite a few 1600's buttons too. Not shown is the 28 musket balls I also dug! LOL.

It is insane to think of finding 300+ year old silver coins. The condition on that coin is unreal. Sometime in the off season maybe you could throw together a picture of all that old silver. Congrats WD

And what a beautiful old silver coin it is! Thank you for showing photos before and after cleaning. You are really becoming spoiled over there, Dave! I bet you are disappointed when you find coins from the 1800s. The buckled and buttons are wonderful as well. They cleaned up nicely. I love the patina on the buckles!

Good job! :clapping:

The other day you posted about finding a Rosie (I think), by all rights you should have thrown that one back. Still amazed at the wonderful coins your getting over there. Keep the posts coming....love your eye candy
