7 Buckles Today!!

Hey diggers,
The guys and I drove about an hour to an amazing site we were told about. During the 1600s and early 1700s the French laid siege to a castle on 5 different occasions. The castle is all gone now but the area where the armies camped is all public forest. It's been hunted for years but good targets are still being found. We got there about 8 a.m. and detected until 3 p.m. I found some great coins and buttons (I'll save those for another post) but I'm really excited about all the buckles I found today! My best buckle day ever. I found my first annular buckle and my first spectacle buckle. Here's some pics and thanks for looking and commenting. Happy hunting to all! Dave.

Love fact you’re recovering such old relics Dave. Really brings our ancestors, in a way back to life. Our commonality are linked. Picking those buckle outta the dirt must have been exciting! Can’t wait to see the coins!

Those are some beautiful looking buckles! They sure knew how to make them to last, didn't they? Congrats on some great hunting!

Those are awesome! 7 in one day! I am not sure that even Bucklemeister Dan ever had a day like that. I love that shoe buckle with the flutes!

Wow! What was going on in Germany 500 years ago? Everyone was running around without their pants or shoes!

Most excellent finds Dave, and I'm sure your coins and buttons will be equally as nice! Gotta love the green brass patina huh? It's also nice that some of the buckle chapes were also brass and withstood the test of time. They're quite often made of iron here in the Northeast and rot away long before any lucky detectorist unearths one.
