Dave!! Thats one for the books!! Way to go, I have never seen a chain cent, only in guides. Nice job on cleaning those beauties up. Looks like you will be hitting that place alot harder next time. Got to love those clumsy colonials!! rofl

Great hunt Dave, Happy Hunting!!

You just keep topping yourself. Holy Grail next? No wait...holy grail full of 2000 year old coins? lol
I bet you've never sold any of your finds...but you might sell a $20000 one!! happydance02 <:

Some people metal detect to find relics, some to find jewelry, some to find war artifacts, etc.

Myself, I get my kicks from coins, especially US coins, and that 1793 Chain Cent is the stuff dreams are made of! Talk about the pinnacle of US coins! All I can say is WOW!

Fantastic CHAIN CENT find !

As I scanned your post I noticed my breathing getting heavier as I imagined the excitement within you when you realized what you had and again when you saw the results of your cleaning efforts.
Unbeliveable, isn't it.

Thanks for the numerous pictures especially the ones of the CHAIN CENT after your final cleaning.

Did you get goose bumps on your arms when you realized what you had in your hands?
Did you ever imagine that you would be smiling at your own chain cent? Was it a top ten on your wish list?

Congratulation!,
Bob Ellis

Thanks Bob! the chain cent was never on my wishlist as I never thought about the possiblity to dig one being so rare. a nova constellatio was really on my wishlist, along with a heraldic eagle or draped bust silver. i got goosebumps when i opened the redbook and saw the prices though
