a long time coming

Got out for a outing with a good friend this weekend diggin some corn fields in Illinois. Found this sweet piece well two pieces as it is broke but fixable found 30 feet apart. It is my first CS tongue. I have been going to DIV ( diggin in virginia) for years without finding anything that says CS well i accomlished that this weekend now to get back and find the wreath. Happy Hunting

It is a Confederate CS Tonuqe buckle from the Civil War it is missing the other half which is a wreath that it locks into
 
WOW, and you found that in Illinois! (gives me hope). Congrats. I would definitely get it restored. It would be worth every penny. HH, Dave.

Seriously, thats a awesome find Steve! And right here in Illinois? Wow! Thats pretty rare anywhere, but in Illinois? That's unheard of! At least I've never seen a CS anything found here.

Maybe it came from a prisoner escaping from the POW camp in Chicago or it could have been a war souvenir carried home by a Yankee. Either way it is an awesome find.
