A Lonley Matron

Lodge Scent

Got a good hike in this morning before it warmed up. Checked out a spot I've wanted to get to for a few years. The spot didn't pan out like I had hoped though. So on the way back I detoured to a site in the woods that contained a few overgrown stock pens where I had dug a few stray coppers in the past. Was lucky enough to sniff out a toasty 1818 Matron Head before I had to head back out.

The former gate area in the stone walls between stock pens is usually a great area to find stuff. And even though it was a bit tough to swing a coil, it didn't disappoint.

The cool temps early this morning felt nice!

Great LC Jeff! Man, this heat needs to go away as I prefer not to be dripping in sweat while MD'ing. Looks like you should be able to pull some good detail out on the coin.

I agree with John, looks like some real detail on that coin Jeff. How's the back?
Nice job adapting and changing your game plan!
The ferns are dying!

Looks like it might clean up nice. I'd always check the gate areas thoroughly (lest the one time with the Dave Dan Todd crew and I just grabbed a snack like the rest of them while we took a break trying to find the site).
