Last week I had a few short hunts that produce a couple silver, an 1881 Indian, several wheats and a rare find for WI., an 1851 Large Cent. The site was a new permission for me that dates to the early 1840's. My hunt started out good with a couple wheats and the Indian. Then it slowed down, It seemed that most of the area had fill dirt. One area is now a flower garden that is used for weddings and has several grass paths. The owner watched me dig a couple holes and was OK with my technique so he let he have the run of the property. On the edge of one of the paths I got a solid hit that was reading deepish on the Deus. I thought maybe silver, WOW! was I surprised when I saw the largie come out of the ground. The 2 silvers 1917 Merc and 1947 Rosie came from a church site that I have pounded with my other machines. My wheat total for the week was 19.
