A V, IH and some wheats

Went out detecting early this morning with a member who recently joined the forum. joejames called me Monday night asking if I wanted to go
detecting the next morning. I've hunted with Joe once before and we had a nice time. Although he only started this hobby a few months ago,
he has a very nice silver count going. I can tell next year is going to be tough for me to find silver in our area with Dave and joejames running around with their Minelabs! crying01 lol

Although no silver showed up this morning, I did get the V and wheats. This evening I could not help but think of the
sidewalk tear out section I noticed earlier this morning. Having a milco-moment, I decided to give it a try. There was only about 6 feet of cement removed, but the IH was waiting there patiently to be found.

Man, that IH is spectacular! :loveit: The soil down your way is very kind to the coppers. :smitten: Nice group of finds. thumbsup01

GREAT finds Joe!!!

I love the Iowa soil on IH's and wheats :happydance01: They really hold up beautifully!

The soil is very nice to coins here. I do hit pockets of clay and stuff that cause a little more grief to the copper type coins.
This IH did require a long soak in hot peroxide to remove the crud. This creates a deeper tone... but I do kind of like it.

I'd certainly trade a handful of Iowa soil for a handful of the old coins you folks find out there on your side of the country.

Don't ya just love finding those old nickles :smitten:
It's hard enough to find nickles as it is :hairpulling: So it's nice to see that V staring back at you once in a while. :happydance01:
Another fine day of swingin' Joe! :envious:
Congrats

Congrats on the V Nickel, if only the date had been a year or two earlier! ;) That Indian Head is simply gorgeous! Glad that your hunch paid off!

Good job, nice finds! thumbsup01

Very nice finds that are in nice condition. WTG thumbsup01 I sure wish they came out of the ground looking like that in Connecticut. :girlcry:

Very nice hunt, going after that 6' section of missing sidewalk paid off. That IH is in great shape. Congrats on your finds

:beerbuddy: Congrats Joe! Love the color of your IH! They're always green here -also pretty color though lol

Makes me want to go look for some sidewalk tear out

Very nice old coins Joe! That is an opportunistic find on that nice IH! You just never know until you put your coil over the dirt. I just can't resist sidewalk and street tear ups. The thought of dirt exposed for the first time after 50-75 even 100 years is almost as exciting as the finds themselves.

Great finds, I wish that the pennies that I find here would have that green patina. They either come out of the ground looking like they had never been there, or they are completely eaten up. Congrats on some really good looking coins.
