Another visit to 1723 house - possible military button

I spent another 4 hours at the 1723 house this past Saturday. Another merc and various other relics.

One button cleaned up really nicely, it is silver plated. It has an eagle and shield and 13 stars. A bit of google searching and I found dug copper ones that say they are militia or regiment uniform buttons from the Civil War. However, I didn't find any with the silver plate.

Can anyone confirm that this is from the Civil war?

hey Matt the button is a real beauty :smitten: :smitten: and looks to be an early (pre- Civil War ) U.S. Militia button (1820's to 1830's) |:cheering: |:cheering:

I agree with del, but I don't know why it has a silver appearance? I thought these were all brass guilted. What did you clean it with? I wonder if the cleaner turned it that colour ( English Version) or if it's really silver guilted. Del what is your opinion?
What I would do is go to relicman.com and look around and send him a picture. He has always helped me out and is a nice guy from my experience dealing with him. Congrats again. :clapping:

I think buttons with that eagle on it are before the civil war ,. but im no expert , i did find one that has that eagle and i have civil war buttons and the eagle is different on the earlier one

It's definately silver plate, I cleaned it with aluminum jelly. I love this stuff, it really works well and quick. Just have to be careful.
