Any Idea What This is?

Found this in the backyard today anyone know what it might be? It measures about 1 x 1, is about 1/4 thick and weights about 1.30 oz.

could be a ran down Chinese ninja star from the early 1800s

It looks like its sharpened on one end My guess is, it could be a wedge that is banged into the top of a hammer to tighten the head on the handle.

I tend to agree with Rob L. I think it's a hatchet or hammer handle wedge.

It kinda looks like a home made throwing star. I knew a kid who made some very similar back in high school.
