At least this hunt wasn't a total bust!

Did ya ever have one of those hunts where you feel like you've lost your mojo? This was how my hunt was going yesterday. Nothing but junk target after junk target. Very frustrating. I haven't been able to hunt for about two weeks due to school and Hurricane Sandy. We lost power for a few days and had a lot of clean up afterwards. So it was nice to get back out regardless.

Anyway, I did manage to find an awesome Hood milk bottle laying on top of the ground. Then just before I called it quits I dug a bent up penny with a hole in it at about 5 inches deep. I didn't think much of it at first. It was completely caked in crusty dirt. I couldn't make out any details at all on either side. I figured maybe a wheatie hiding under there.

Well imagine my surprise after getting home and cleaning it up. An 1865 Indian Head penny! :shocked04: WOW! happydance02 That sure made up for the frustration of the hunt. :happydance01:

Thanks for looking and happy hunting everyone! :groovy:

Probably a cream bottle. Looks like a nice one too!
So are you gonna flatten out the I.H.? I flatten out bent coins by putting pieces of paperboard (usually two thick) on each side and then hit gently with a hammer on my vise.
