Back to the orphanage- more buttons and a coin!

I went digging since the ground had finally thawed out- and was rewarded with some keepers! Some staff buttons, an eagle, and civilian flower button and a pristine 1863 fatty indian! The 16mm GS eagle with a skinny shield turns out to be made by Steele and Johnson Ca. 1860. Seems like a rare variant as I can only find one other example with this backmark and it is a C in the shield cavalry officers. Pretty happy with this little outing!

I'm wondering if our ground will ever freeze this winter. Those are some 1st class finds Luke! The fatty is sharp and those buttons...

Some really great buttons, and that fatty is primo! The"more" buttons are in even better condition! Nice to see that gold color on them. :clapping::clapping:

Man that spot is a relic store! Your not detecting....you are shopping! Lots on congrats on those finds!

Awesome finds Luke! You've got quite the spot there. As many buttons that keep popping out of that site, it's sure to be a nice fallback location for you at any time. Fatty came out in great shape.
