Sadly the Belvin Bros factory burned down last night in East Hampton, Ct. They produced many of the crotal/sleighbells we find. It was built in the 1830s.

I always hate to hear stories like this, when a historic building that has stood for 175+ years is lost forever. So much history and touchstones to our past lost with it.

That's too bad, it will probably be tough for them to recover from the fire. One of our local historical societies has one of the largest bell collection in the world. It was a private collection that was donated. It is something to see and Im sure they have samples of there bells. I will have to stop in and let them know about the fire.
