Best day on old coins and 3 Firsts

by cdv » 1 minute ago

Got up this morning and after looking at the radar, almost didn't go... sure glad I did. I hit the cut on a fresh water lake I found a 43 quarter two weeks ago, hoping that it had more old coins there, what a day. Three firsts today, a 45 SL half, a 30 SL quarter and a 37 merc. Got a 52 nickel, wheats, 58, 57, 45 and 1916 along with a sterling religious medal on what I think is a Stainless chain. In addition, the smallest gold ring I've ever seen but it is gold, 1.0 grams of 10k.... lol.

This trip was the first real time out with the SOV GT and I think I like it. I could tell someone else had worked the cut over, not filling in the holes. Matter of fact, one of the first of his holes I found, I got a penny he had left or missed.

Not sure if I'll go back tomorrow cause the sand might be to frozen to dig in but I will hit that area again if we have a big storm to cut it up some more.

Very nice finds...that ring is very old! Nothing like stepping back in time. |:cheering:
Never thought about the ring being old, I just thought it was a kids ring.... might have to check it out better since it did come from the same cut and depth as the silver coins.

Oh my, look at that Standing Liberty Quarter! What a beauty! :smitten:

I love your other finds too, but I have a soft spot for SLQ's, and that one is SHARP!

Congrats on the awesome day! |)

Good call on making it out! thumbsup01 Both the Walker and the SLQ are in good shape.
But like Tony said. Wow! that SLQ is stunning! She was dropped the year it was minted!!!..... or really shortly after! lol
Great hunt! And you even bagged a little gold! <: Someone else maybe hitting it. But they're missing some really nice things! :poke: lol

I do plan on going back there today but I'm never going to top yesterdays finds... I just hope the sand isn't to frozen to get the scoop in.
