Best hunt ever @ house built in 1790

It's very hard to see this little L that the designer Longacre decided he was gonna put on the die. lol It pays to be the die maker ;) The Redbook shows where it is, but there is an easier way. The bust of the Indian can be pointy or rounded (right above the 1 in the date). Pointed is the L variety. Blunted is the regular variety. I hope you can see the pointed bust on my coin. This is the overdate, so check yours carefully, since you can barely make out the doubled 1 and 4. Much easier to see in person.

kay it was hard to get a clear shot but it sure looks like it's pointed to me... I think I see an L at the end of head band BEFORE the ribbon starts or is it ON the ribbon? Or is this just wishful thinking... my eye hurts from staring into the loupe for too long lol I once imagined an S on a 1909 IH that way too... btw, that one came to me via grocery store change!

Alright, I'm gonna pull a Dave on you now rofl :behave:

Congrats on a very nice LC. I found a 1820 here in Indiana just a few weeks back. Yours is prettier than mine.

Thanks! Wow that one has been through the wringer! Makes you wonder what all it went through lol It reminds me of a good movie called 'Twenty Bucks' which takes you along a ride with a $20 bill, as it exchanges hands-- what it represented for different people.

SWEET!!!!!!! Looks like maybe you'll be meditating before hunts from now on  Im happy that you had a FANTASTIC day of digging!!!!!!!!!

Hard to see all the way from Massachusetts lol but just compare it to mine. If you have a Redbook for coins (or see if the library has one), you can read up on it. Google it and hit images and maybe it will pop up. It's very hard to tell you where it is. It was hidden as well as he could, since it was a no no to put his initials on it. The easiest way to see describe where it's located is to follow the bottom of the last feather in the headress back towards the Indian's head. There is a very short ribbon there, right before the ribbon with the diamonds. It's located there. But there's a catch lol Now that you know where it's located, the best way to actually view it is to turn the coin so that you are looking across the surface with the Indians nose facing your nose. Sounds corny, but that's the best angle to see it. It is a capital L but it's a little fancier. Hope that doesn't lock your eye balls together rofl

Actually I've been using XLT- I sent my V3i to Proctor & Gamble, have a claim due to battery leak. We'll see if they compensate me :-\ They told me it'd be 6-8 wks. It's been almost 6 now! Been waiting patiently
