Took off a few hours early on Wednsday to do a bit o' detecting. Went to a local park that I've had some success. I found on Google earth where an old ball field was in the park and I had not hit that area, so I thought I would concentrate there. After several hours, and lot's o' clad...not even a wheatie, which I've pull lots of from there...decided to head back towards the car. I get an unusual hit 01-44. I dig deep....still in the hole...deeper...no, still there...finally at around 1 ft I HIT something,I brush it off, at first I think..can...then I brush it off a bit (at this point I can only see about a quarter size area) I see some ridges. I decide it's definatly worth getting out of the ground, but I can't seem to find the edges of this thing...so I walk back to my car and get the BIG shovel...I finally get this thing out of the ground and it's the top of an OLD ciggarette case, with a monogram. I didn't know if it was silver, but thought it probably was, because there were no typical markings on it, and that would have been on the bottom of the case. When I met up with George yesterday, I asked him what he thought and he said silver, that the reading was that of a silver dollar hit
eace:...has to be more than an ounce of silver....when I get some time, going back to see if I can find that bottom!
