been awhile since i hunted with Frank and we hit a few sites today.was tough and pickins were slim.
managed a 1925 buffalo nickel,a couple buckles and a nice W horse rosette.
wondering if the etching looks colonial? and found 3 morel mushrooms.i heard these were good eating?
please advise if these are indeed edible morels and whats the best way to cook em? butter and pan fry em?
the picture of the tree is a huge bird up in a nest, not sure what kind of bird it is? a eagle?

Love the alien writing on that Rosette lol I'm not sure how old it is, but I'm guessing mid to late 1800's? :dontknow: Glad you had a chance to get out for a bit. Some good finds.

VERY nice!!!! :cheering:

They don't look exactly like morels to me. There are a lot of different variations, so I don't know. I am experienced in hunting and cooking them when living in Iowa.

If you deem them to be morels, then yes, they are great to eat... best is to soak in salt water for a couple of hours to clean, then slice and dip in egg, cracker crumbs, and fry in butter (no, it's not healthy!)
