Coins and Relics at the 1908 Farm House

I thought I have already hammered this place in the last two trips here... well... I was completely mistaken.

Yesterday on a quick 45 minute hunt, I ventured out into the side yard of this 1908 farm house where I found the grand slam about a month ago. I managed to squeak out a few more goodies! The soil is so dry here all the targets barely hit at 6" and my plugs would fall apart half the time... can't wait for a good rain.

I found TWO Washington D.C. Fire Department two piece coat buttons... fairly old I'd imagine... if anyone can help with the age that would be awesome! (Back Mark: ____ery Moran Co. Washington D.C.) I dug TWO more Indians (1884, 1900)... and that's #28 and #29 for the year also... I just LOVE digging Indians for some reason... :loveit:

I also found a flat button that probably dates from the early-mid 1800s, the shank is broken; and last but not least I dug a buckle that has a patent date of 12-25-06 (1906) on it.

GL and HH everyone!
:thumbsup02:

Congrats on the finds I also love digging Indians :thumbsup01:

Thank you! Yeah you just can't beat that green... maybe even blue patina on some of them... besides the patina they also have a nice design. :thumbsup01: GL and HH!

Someone on another forum told me some very valuable information about the button I have dug...

Chery & Moran Co.

Not sure of the date of your FD button but here they are listed in DC directory..

Listed last name first..

In 1909 (about mid right column Moran T Pliny)

And this one is 1908 (even though top of this page is not dated , Moran T Pliny.. mid left column)

Probably more than you wanted to know but.. may give you an estimate

Pliny T Moran
Washington DC birth 1863/death 1950 Los Angeles California

He also appears on 1940 California census.

So after 1908 and before 1940 is a potential timeframe.

Great bunch of finds :congrats: Love Indians, love buttons... heck I love it all  You will never hunt that place out. Targets are hiding right next to iron. If you come at them from a different direction, you may pick them out. Add the rain that you are asking for, and targets that are deeper just pop up out of nowhere :dontknow: Detecting is a fun, challenging game ;)

Thank you and I agree. ;) Not much iron here, but a lot of deeper signals... I just can't wait for the next rain. I love that you can just keep going to a place and finding more stuff... GL and HH!!! :thumbsup02:

Great finds...esp. the buttons. Have had similar results returning to places over and over again and still pulling stuff out from time to time where I was sure I had already swept over. Keep up the good work.
