Complete Iron Shoe Buckle

First for me today...an iron shoe buckle. It's small and has a distinctive tongue, not like a fork, with a pot belly chape. Was a consistent splattery tone 80s all ways. I thought it might be a brass D buckle with iron tongue. Thanks!

Nice one Drew. That one still has some meat on it. The few that I have are not nearly as hefty. That tongue could hurt someone! I've put worse ones than that through electrolysis and got a fair result.

nice early one Drew maybe from the first decade or two of the 18th century , many machines would of called that junk

Thanks, guys! I'm just going to put it in the case as is, Jeff. I did some electrolysis years ago, now I'm too tired
We don't find many iron buckles up here either, fyrffytr1 !
Thanks, Dan...I didn't remember that combination of chape and tongue but turns out I have found one before (attached pic).

Yup that brass alloy one is a bit newer as from its size and thin frame but still way before mid century .
