Dime Grand Slam

Last Tuesday, June 18th, there was a break in the weather and woke up early and said I'm playing hooky from work today to find an old coin or two.

I arrived at the sight I'd been wanting to hunt, fired up the E-Trac and hoped for a good day! And it was! Within the first 10 minutes I found a beautiful 1900 barber dime, at about 6 inches! :wow:
Soon after, I found 2 Mercs, a 1040D and a 1918 D. I knew it was going to be a GOOD day!

It slowed up some, found a few wheats and bang! At 10 inches I found the Seated dime! 1876S. A nice coin to find. I was starting to think, I'm sitting on a trifecta, all I need is the Rosie for the superfecta!

Sure enough, about an hour later, there it was! The dime Superfecta was complete! A Rosie finally came up. :happydance01:

I found a bonus coin, 1909S wheatback cent, but the mint forgot to put the VDB on the back, lol I guess I need to send it back to get stamped, but what a thrill to find one!

Also found a 1918 Buffalo nickel, and an 1899 indian head, and several other wheats!!

A great 3 1/2 hour hunt. Some days it pays to play hooky! Thanks for reading!

Ron

Man, now that is some hunting right there. I've gotten the dime hat trick a few times but never a grand slam. I can only dream! Congrats on a great hunt!

What an amazing hunt, Ron! :wow:

A dime grand slam is a rare accomplishment indeed! You must have really been concentrating hard to get that seated dime at 10 deep. That's awesome!

A 1909-S wheat cent is a great find too! I've yet to find one.

Congrats on your incredible day!

:perfect10:

I'm more excited about the '09 S than the rest lol The grand slam is hard enough, but that wheat sure is a nice catch |)

Sorry I'm late on this buddy... A dime grand slam is very, very hard to come by here in Iowa.

Especially getting one in public grounds. Congratulations to you Ron.

p.s. Turn off the Minelab and fire up your old machines. lol ... at least until I can hunt again. :detecting:

Great hunt!

Nice detail on that 1909 S too. :wow:

I would have been having a heart attack from the suspense of looking for the VDB on the back. lol

I would have convinced myself it was there even if it wasn't :hysterical:
