We had a pretty good thaw Friday and Saturday. So Sunday I hiked into a site located on a bit of a hillside with a southerly exposure. For those that don't hunt them, many cellar holes are oriented like this. But at this site the trees where thin so I was hoping there was enough snow melt so I would be able to swing the coil. I was happy to find there was only a couple of inches on the ground at the site.
There is a barely noticable cellar hole at the top of this hill. With no stonewalls, I had found this site last fall based more on intuition than anything else. It didn't have anymore easy coppers to give up but I figured I might find a relic or two in the iron.

I was very pleased to sniff out a few buttons, clay pipe stem, spoon bowl, big musket ball, small plated buckle and a nice little straight razor.

I really did feel good to finally get out and dig a few targets  More winter weather on the way mid week.
