Finally, a silver!

Hi all,
I got out for the day on Tuesday until the rain came in and didn't do too bad. First park I hit was a total waste of time, not even a single clad to be found. But then I moved over to a huge old park I have been wanting to hit for quite a while. It used to be the zoo and dates back to around 1896. I suspected it was likely hunted hard early on before the area got overrun by drug dealers and hookers. I was hoping that since the area has been on the mend a bit all would be ok. Sure enough, lots of joggers and dog walkers, a few city workers and a motorcycle cop. No ghetto rats-great sign!
I wasn't there more than 30 minutes before I found my first wheatie of the day- a 1934. A while later I got a nice 12-45 signal at about 2 inches. Expecting a quarter I was very surprised when I popped out an old silver ring! Very worn and no markings, but still nice.
Things went quiet for a few hours, just lots of clad. Some zincolns even ended up at 7 to 8 inches down! But I moved closer to the pond area and between a couple walkways I got a sketchy 12-43 at 6 inches. Figured it was a clad dime I was in for a nice surprise when I saw a silver rim. Finally, a 1942D Merc in my pouch!
After that it was only one more 1958 wheatie, more clad, and a .40 Cal hollow point slug. Ended up with $3.66 in clad for the day.

Nice DOD. Glad you got out of the park alive. Sorry about the other park, I would think there would be some silver to be found there unless it got hammered already. Glad you got a ring and a Merc. Nice!

Well, it's about darn time! Looks like you found some great ones. That first park that had no signals, was your machine on? Don't laugh, I once swung for at least 10 minutes before I realized my detector wasn't even turned on! Talk about feeling like a dummy! HH, Dave.

I laugh now, but at the time I ran my shovel over the coil just to make sure it was working. :)

:rofl:Some sites are so quiet I still check to see if my machine is on sometimes  . of course my machine will shut itself off if you don't use the pinpoint mode after 20 minutes and I set the background hum to barely audible , so yeah i've walked around with the dang machine off before swinging away .:bangahead02::hairpulling::rofl::lol:

Nice rings DOD !!:smitten:
