Finally, first gold!

Hey all,
Got out for a couple hours before work. First tried at a high school where I had hoped would have some goodies, but it didn't pan out. Since I was already close to the beach I decided to give it a go for the last 90 minutes before work. Since we had a few strong storms lately, the shoreline is drastically changed with much of the sand washed out exposing what was the deep gravel bed earlier in the year.
The first hour gave up little more than a couple old pull tabs. But as I moved into shallow water near one end of the beach I got a solid 12-16. I was guessing another big ring pull but got excited when I saw shiny roundness in the scoop between the stones. Hoping it wasn't another junk ring, looked inside and saw my first 14k stamp! Great way to end the afternoon, and I'll be back in the morning for maybe another hour.

Thanks everyone!
I went out this morning to try for more gold, but the lake was SD of rough it made it nearly impossible to detect. I fid manage one junker ring that looks like it's been buried a long time. Got several more good low tone signals but could recover them due to the waves. But, I'll be back, and I know where they're hiding!

Fantastic find! Those type of finds keep us hooked on this hobby year after year.

They sure do! This time of year is tough getting water calm enough on the big pond to detect, but the sand moves around a lot possibly exposing things hidden the rest of the year.

I couldn't understand how I missed this post, then I see it was in "beaches." I need to check this area more often. Congrats on the gold!!
