Finds to date for 2017

Hey all. Been a while since I’ve posted. Got out with Frank on Sunday for an all day hunt in the sub-zero temps. Boots were on the ground @ 7am to a balmy 10 degrees not including the wind chill. This was the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] time I’ve ever had to use hand warmers and boy did they save the hunt! We hit 3 new sites but I was only able to nab this small button as well as the shotgun shell.

We moved on to an old stomping ground that has been pounded by others over the years but I was able to hit pay dirt with this beautiful colonial bridal rosette, which I thought was going to be a head stamp. Was also able to nab another button as well as this small ornamental piece which probably came off some furniture.

Got the 3 musket balls at another site that I hunted earlier this year.

HH!
Roger

Pretty cool rosette, I like the fancy design. The brass shotgun she'll is also a really nice find. That dates to before 1911 when UMC merged with Remington.

I hardly ever find brass shotgun shells like that, Roger. That is one good looking rosette too! I can't believe you were out Sunday!! :frozen:
How'd Frank do?

Good relics Roger , the rosette is sweet I bet it had a center design or motif . congrats !

Thanks Guys!

Yea it was definitely a cold day & thank GOD for the hand warmers. Without tehm we would have had to wait til 9 or 10 am until it warmed up to 20, LOL! Frank did pretty good and found the only coins of the day a 1906 IH & a clad dime. He also found a button and a few other trinkets.

Nice rosette. Almost looks like there was supposed to be a letter engraved in the dug picture. I believe the buttons are late 1800/ early 1900s. The Philippine-American war had the 4 hole design, but they also said 'new-improved design' on them. That war started 1899. Kinda matches the time frame of the 12Ga cartridge.
