First Ben Franklin Half Dollar!

Hi everyone,

In my defense I just started metal detecting this spring so I've had a lot of first this year. lol
I went back to the old abandoned swimming hole from the fifties that I've been hunting and found my first Franklin half dollar, a 52. It has a scratch on the face, not sure if I nicked it or if it just came out of the ground like that but it's in pretty good condition otherwise. I also found a real nice 46 rosie and four really corroded wheats. The Half really jumped out at me on my V3I with a very solid 89 VDI and was about 3 inches down.

Yes a hard one to find , ive found 2 , last year i got a spill with a franklin and a 54 quarter and a merc. I understand the gov. melted alot of them down

That's a sweet Franklin congratulations . If that is a scratch on that Franklin it appears to be an old one to me it almost looks like a cracked planchet . A fresh scratch would have been shiny and would have run across Ben's face which is more elevated also . |:cheering:
